I regularly post about fire extinguishers and fire safety but realized today when ordering Christmas gifts that one really essential item never got mentioned.
It is a FIRE BLANKET. They are 40"X40" and made of a fiberglass cloth that is airtight. If a small fire breaks out in a kitchen device or pan on the stove, simply take it out of the pouch and cover the fire ... Instantly out! They are reusable.

You can buy the ones "Recommended by Firefighters" for a four-pack for around $80, but you can buy the exact same four-pack for $25 with a generic name. They make great gifts and I give one to all my friends at Christmas.
In the shop they will stop a small fire in its infancy. They work on any type of fire that requires air to burn.

They are an excellent idea for a gift! One hangs behind the door in the kitchen at our home and another in my shop.

I'm going to look into this, great idea

I was just thinking about it since I have a titanium handle modification I want to do, but I'm worried about fire

I lined my grinding room with hanging fiberglass welding blankets, instead of the typical plastic. I have a few extra (they’re huge). It never crossed my mind to use the extras to smother small shop fires.

Great tip Stacy!

My son is a firefighter and says these things really work. We bought a couple on his recommendation.
