I want to get a couple of new sheaths made and was wondering if someone could tell me the most popular diameter rods out there, such as the ESEE and light my fire????? I may make a couple strikers out of maybe 5/16 or 3/8 is that about right for the sheath holders out there that come from makers??
Thanks for the input...

The ESEE fire kit is a 3/8" diameter rod.

The LMF rods vary in size depending on the model.

Check going gear dot com for great prices on misch metal rods in a variety of sizes. They also sell a nice little striker.

Yeah thanks for the references.....I don't own one of the super fire steels that throw gobs of lava down.

Esee s fire steel is huge is much bigger in person then in pics that said works amazingly

ESEE fire kit is 3/8"
LMF Army model is 3/8"
BRK&T Firesteels 3/8"
I think the LMF Scout is 1/4"
and the LMF mini is 5/16" or 1/8" I don't Remember

Is the NanoStriker just a cute little gadget or something that will out perform a light-my-fire?

currently carrying an ESEE rod.. looking for a smaller one for a tin survival kit or a key chain (Nano)

I am not a big fan of the nano striker....
cool gadget yes....
I do not like the little tiny striker.... I have had one since 6/10 and I have place the green nano striker back in it's box.... just not for me for the cost .. I'd carry another ESEE fire kit b/c of the size ; no matter your hand size small or Xlarge the ESEE fire kit fits ,The Nano to me if your hand is beyond medium the striker will drive you crazy....

for a smaller option Doc,I'd buy a LMF mini ,I like it ! I have 3 and one I replaced the rod with a misch metal from GG or just buy a rod only from GG ?
