Nice photo of a fire saw in use in the Feb 2012 Nat Geo, page 130-31, by a native of Papua New Guinea.
Anyone every use this technique?
I have read about it before, but could never understand how the cord didnt just break or burn up.
I have only used the bow drill method of friction fire-starting. Have never tried any others. ( well, other friction approaches)
(also, for knife content, on page 33 you can just make out a Gerber folder on a soldiers belt-dont see the model on their current website)
