Hello All,

I've found a fascination with fire starters of late. Of course there's always the old tried and true metal match, which works just fine, but of course I've got to try new ones.

I found an exotac fire starter at the Blade show the year before last and that thought I had the ultimate in striker type fire starters but just last night I ran across the aurora fire starters from solo science.

They look pretty tempting. So I guess what I'm wondering is has anyone tried one out and what did you think? Can you compare it to the exotac nano-striker?

Do you have other fire starting implements that you like better than either one, and if so, why?

It's a tried and true "metal match." I have watched them in action twice, and they seem to throw nice sparks - like other higher-quality ferro rods.

Seems a little pricey to me. I'll stick with a tried and true Light-My-Fire metal match. The Blast Match is nice too. ;)

Thanks for the thoughts guys. The metal matches are certainly cheaper! I haven't see the light my fire version I'll have to check that out.

I buy the blanks from goinggear and do the handles myself. They work great.
