Used my fire steel the other night to start a fire and my wife became very interested in trying it out. I had a good fire going in less than 10 minutes. I've only been using the fire steels since last Christmas when her aunt gave me one as a gift. Anyways she wanted to learn how to make a fire "like I did". I got a hand full of cedar bark and made a small bird nest sized bundle to catch the sparks. It took her a little while to get it going, probably a lot faster than my first attempt was when I tried. I'm proud that she was so interested in learning and wanted to give it a try. So now all I have to do is talk her into making the fire next time and I'll watch.
