hello-
I see some people have leather sheathes made with a small holder for a fire steel, this looks very good to have. However if the fire steel gets worn down and thinner, will the holder still retain it or will it eventially loosend up?
Also who makes leather sheathes with this holder?
Thank you
Martin

Leatherman (Dwayne) makes this type of sheath. His work is excelent and he is a great guy to deal with. You can see him on the Busse Combat forum, his website is listed in the sticky thread at the top of the page. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information. Has anyone had retention problem with this type of sheath system, will it loosen up over time ?

I'm sure with lots of regular use, the steel will wear down enough that it's loose in the retention loop. But a light wrap of duct tape or something similar at the top of the steel would keep the thickness just right, and probably even help with retention.

I have a fire steel loop on my PackPal. I put some cord through a hole that is in the sheath, and looped it though the handle of the steel. The striker is also attached this way. The striker is slid between the loop and sheath.Even as the steel wear down it is still held very secure. When I use the steel it is still attached to the sheath.
