I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this, but I didn't find somewhere more appropriate, so mods please move if you want.

I am new to Western Mass. Does anyone know if it's worth going to the Firearm & Knife Show in West Springfield, MA this weekend? I would only be interested in going to handle and maybe buy some knives if some decent vendors are going to bring anything of quality, since I don't know of any knife stores in the area. But if they're only going to have the cheap flea-market crap that I've seen at other shows, I don't want to waste the time or entrance fee. Thanks for any info.

I started going in the early 1990s and gave up somewhere in the mid-2000s, mostly because the selection just got really thin, uninteresting and expen$ive. Maybe it's improved, not sure. You could ask at Northeastshooters forum and get a more current opinion.

I haven't been in five or six years, but from what I remember, you're not going to find any deals there. It's a fun way to spend a few hours, but that's about it.

Bad weather for it! If you go, post up some pics please.

I went to one in West Springfield, Ma. a few months ago.
Parking and entrance amounted to $15 if I remember correctly.

There were many custom knife booths and lots of low end stuff too.
The knifes I looked at were higher priced than I could get online. Case for example.
I did find a used Case Sodbuster, Spyderco keychain, old Camillus Scout and an old Colonial electrician I picked up.

It was fun to walk around and look at everything but I was a little dissapointed in the variety and pricing.
The show is definately geared toward firearms.

I have not been to the Big E gun show in many years, but I have found that the local Gun Show held by the same promoter is uber crowded, lots of gun activity but marginal knife activity. When I go to the local show I stand in line for an hour to get in then spend maybe 45 minutes in the show.

I hope that its ok to promote our local knife club in this thread, but the Northeast Cutlery Collectors has knife shows in Marlboro, MA and in Mystic, CT. www.ncca.info
