I am jst abut to make a small forge from firebricks and i was wondering if the normal firebricks would work as well as the insulatory firebricks. I already have the normals firebricks so id rahter nt have to pick up the insulatory kind. Thanks in advance

Patrick

Patrick, I don't know much about the soft fire brick, but I think I saw somewhere that the hard kind wont' get as hot. My first gas forge had hard fire brick and didn't get very hot, when I finaly found some Kaowool the heat jumped way up.

Mine is made of plain old firebrick. It gets hot enough to weld. I did have to play with the size and shape some but it works just fine for me.
