Wings, I use that to warm up my annealing bucket or lay a blade on it to normalize.

Wow Mike, that things built like a tank! Whats the back tube for and what did you use on the insides?

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

The tube on the back is the manifold and venturi.

The forge is a piece of 8" pipe with 2" of kawool coated with waterglass the waterglass prevents the kawool fibers from floating around when it's hot and getting in your lungs. The face is an old side grinder guard and pieces of heat exchnager, mostly what I've been tripping over in the shop.

I can get forging temp very quickly on about 4 psi propane.

I guess I could cook lunch on the wings too>

Mike I am going to have to get over to your place one of these days pretty soon and check out your forges and home made anvils!!!

Perhaps we could set up a Saturday that you will be free on?

Of course I can make it any day of the week being retired, but afternoons and evenings get kinda rough for me.

Howdy There....!
Really like the looks of your forge, it almost loks like a small dragon. It looks very similar to the one I saw at the last NC Guild meeting. They showed us one they had built , but added a small 50cfm fan to the burner pipe coming in from the side. It would sit there a growl at 1 1/2 lbs. pressure. Like the looks of yours..!
