I have been considering becoming a volunteer firefighter and i think i am going to do it. I heard at some point police EMS and firefighters can carry automatic blades and if this is true it would give me all the reason to purchase one of the Microtech Venomtechs. Can anyone verify this for me? Thanks =).

Knife carry is covered under General Laws of Massachusetts, Part IV, Title I, Chapter 289, Section 10 (https://malegislature.gov/Laws/GeneralLaws/PartIV/TitleI/Chapter269/Section10)

This is a really annoying statute to read because it's a series of egregious run-on sentences. So here's the relevant text cut down to size:

(b) Whoever, except as provided by law, carries on his person, or carries on his person or under his control in a vehicle, any stiletto, dagger or a device or case which enables a knife with a locking blade to be drawn at a locked position, any ballistic knife, or any knife with a detachable blade capable of being propelled by any mechanism, dirk knife, any knife having a double-edged blade, or a switch knife, or any knife having an automatic spring release device by which the blade is released from the handle,
..., shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than two and one-half years nor more than five years in the state prison, or for not less than six months nor more than two and one-half years in a jail or house of correction.

The rest of the chapter does not contain any language giving any kind of exception to this, so it would appear that police and fire fighters are similarly prohibited from carrying autos. You can of course own one if you want, just not carry.

You are kidding me. Some of the cops in my area were showing me their autos. not in their house btw. out in public.

Well you know, when you're the one who enforces the law in the first place, who's going to tell you "no"?
