I got the Firefly dvd set last night, and watched the first half hour of it on the excercise bike. After dinner, I finished watching most of the first dvd. The episodes Serenity and the Train Job. I loved them! Especially the Reavers. After seeing them and finding out how they originated in the movie Serenity, they still inspire dread. Captain Mal is the Outlaw Josey Wales for the 26th century! He doesn't have the scar, but Mal was a soldier in that rebellion, and he's taking care of all these misfits. I was waiting for him, after they picked up the Tans and Book, to say Clints line after Chief Dan George asks if some stragglers can come with them, "Sure, hell, everybody else is." I'm kicking myself for not sitting down and watching this series. I said I would, I remember that the ship looked goofy to me, but I would still give it a try. I guess it's better that I didn't, because I would have been really angry when they cancelled the show. I haven't even finished disc 1, but I already love this series. After the movie comes out on dvd, I hope that it sells like crazy, enough for at least one of the cable channels to pick it back up for a series, or to hopefully make some more movies.

This series is great!

I love this show! My brother bugged me forever to watch his dvd set, and I kept putting it off because I wasn't that interested. Then one night I finally popped the first disc in...and ended up staying up all night to watch the whole series! It would be great if the movie caused the show to come back.

I heard about a movie on the Sci Fi channel, but I believe that Joss Whedon said that was just a rumor.

Anyone experience problems playing Disc 2 of the boxed set?

A buddy loaned me his when it first came out and there were problems with Disc 2 in the first run, was hoping it's been fixed before I buy one?

I bought mine about 4 months ago and they all play fine, and it has had extensive use by at least 5 different machines:D (everybody wants to watch it).

This has been one of the only TV series that my wife and I really just had to watch. When we found out that there was a movie being made, we nearly screamed with excitement. (okay, I screamed, she got excited) That was one of our only dates this year. We are now looking for the season on DVD. What's the average price they are asking? Maybe it will be a Christmas present for ourselves.

My wife even enjoyed it! After I watched the series, and then the movie (I'm glad I did it in that order), I got my wife to watch the series, and then, after the first episode, she wanted to watch 2 or 3 more, every night. This really isn't like my wife, so that says something.

"Firefly" DVD set=Shiny!

Why is it that every series I really enjoy gets canned quickly? TV execs should pay me not to watch their shows. My wife even loved the show and she isn't a fan of science fiction at all. I think if Fox had given the show the same chance it has given a bunch of other crappier shows then it would have taken off. (Ow! Unintentional pun pain.)

I've heard rumors of the series being resurrected on the SciFI channel, but I'll believe it when I see it. If they can do so well with "Battlestar Galactica" then maybe there's hope.

I just finished the series tonight. This is by far the best tv show I've ever seen. This story has been floating around my head, but with lightsabres and aliens. We can hope :D.

Paul,
This is a topic of much discourse in my group of friends.
Firefly axed after what, 7 episodes aired?
Dead Like Me (my wife and I loved that showed) killed;) after two seasons.
Wonderfalls, a clever and spunky show, canned after a mere handful of episodes.

The list goes on.

We are huge Firefly/Serenity fans.
In fact my wife lends out our DVDs so frequently that I sometimes forget what they look like.

We'll both start getting letters from television producers saying, "We have a brand new show coming out this fall on the PDQ network that we think is going to be a big hit. We therefore must request that you do not watch it. Please don't make us call the lawyers."

I FINALLY found the dvd set up here - they've been sold out. After watching Serenity, which I thoroughly enjoyed BTW:), I went looking - definitely worth getting. My disc 2 works fine.
