I downloaded FireFox 2 a couple hours ago and installed it. Made some adjustments to make it fit my likings and it seems to work better than IE. I still haven't made it my default browser but probably will soon.

Hehe- I just downloaded IE 7 and looked it over....Seemed to offer many of the things that Firefox has had for a year or more.

The only reason I keep both is that certain sites seem a bit picky, but those are few and far between now.

I added the Google toolber to my Firefox and though it takes a few seconds longer to load it's quite handy.

I actually like IE7 - as you say it played catch-up to FireFox -
but what prevented me from making FireFox my default browser was exactly that same reason where there are rare cases where either a website or program is incompatible with it - of course it always occurs when one least expects it and when it's least wanted.

I am sure FireFox 2.0 is an improvement -
but I have to stick to FireFox 1.5.08 for now even though I have already downloaded 2.0 -
as it is incompatible with an important component I use for the internet -
whereas IE7 works just fine......

Everyone's opinions vary - and without meaning any disrespect - a lot is simply "hearsay".

I like the surveys done at ConsumerSearch.com where they claim to be reviewing the reviews -
ie: they survey what reviews are available and try to draw some concensus.

Please take a look at -

Use the IE tab for Firefox for those web sites that don't work. Does IE have a spell checker built in like Firefox does. It works good for bladeforums

IMO , I would honestly wait a bit before using IE 7. It is still quite vulnerable , although microsoft is not going to tell you that.

Firefox ? bah....

Thanks for the heads-up Mikey. I split my time between Safari and Firefox. I didn't know they upgraded to 2. I just downloaded it.

Tanks!

:D
I didn't either, just slopped into it, lol!!!
Glad I could help my pals, Phil!!!!!!!!

Just downloaded version 2 and everything seems to be working OK for now. I'll let you guys know about any problems that I find. That is the ones that are not due to my stupidity.

I don't use IE anymore. Firefox works just fine and Opera is a suitable second browser. I didn't get the update to 2.0 yet.

Firefox has a planned roadmap for development. People working on this publish versions for testing. Firefox 1.5 is the current version. There are published versions of Firefox 2.0 and Firefox 3.0 available. The further you move from 1.5, the less likely your extensions will work and the more likely that it will crash. However, it's only a browser.

I am not quite getting the distinction here. What do you mean, Firefox 1.5 is the current version, Firefox 2 is the "published" version? Firefox 2 is the current version. Please explain.

As for the extensions, so far all of them work just fine for me, they even automatically downloaded the new, updated releases (which is not to say that you won't find one that hasn't been revved up yet). As for the crashes, have you seen any reports on Firefox 2 crashing?

Since I went to FF 2.0 i can't watch embedded video like on youtube. Tried all the listed fixes with no luck. I can get the sound from the video but no picture. I still like FF better than IE.

Same here, FF doesn't play videos as well as IE or even Advanced Browser does.

I get video but no sound with FF.

Man, I'm glad you buggers talked me into switching to FireFox, I like it! :D
Seems faster than IE and it saves my email nick and password so I DON'T HAVE TO TYPE IT IN EVERY STINKIN TIME I WANT TO ACCESS MY EMAIL! Sheesh, My ISP couldn't even tell me how to do that!

So far I am a happy virtual camper with Firefox!! Tonight I ran into one though! :D
You know in I.E. when you want to clear all the garbage off the pc :barf: from running around the www you click on Tools and run down to Internet Options. That window has all the little wipe out helpers you need. Well, it would seem that FireFox is built different and I cannot figure out how to flush the virtual toilet!
Can someone please help me before the septic tank explodes?
Muchos grassyass for any tips you can gimme. If ya wanna tip me more than a nickel, click on my nick and profile to get my address!!!!! :p

Control + Shift + Delete

If you need an explanation on any of the terms in that window so you know what you're deleting let me know.

That or......click on Tools and click on Clear Private Data and check off what you want cleaned. Same thing.

I love FireFox!!!!!!!

Before with AOL I had error messages everytime, constant browser freeze ups that needed restarting the damn computer......did I say error messages. Well yeah a whole lot of them.

Fast forward a few months ago, I download FF and viola!!!! No more error messages. No more browser freeze ups. I know what you guys mean that there are some videos you can't see. I can't see some videos but I can see You Tube just fine. Small price to pay to get off of IE and end the error messages.
