Firefox 4--is it as mixed a bag as

Just converted because I can't stand Chrome and Opera, and don't trust any version of IE. About 5 of my add-ons weren't compatible but one of those had been updated. The old display is available if you prefer it--this "minimalist" approach to browsers doesn't work for me.

They've changed the bookmark menu so it's no longer "organize bookmarks," but "show all bookmarks." The new tab command is now where the new window command used to be and vice versa. What really pisses me off is that if I switch away from a Yahoo mail account in one tab, then go back to it, I have to sign in again.

So far, not too impressed except that it seems to load pages a little faster. Am I the only one who doesn't see much advantage from the user end so far?

firefox is slower on my computers compared to IE but firefox is much safer. tit for tat. ill take firefox (though i like IE better)

I junked it, the damn thing changed my display, preferences and wouldn't run several of my favorite add-on's. I run an older version that leaves my add-on's alone.

Recently, I've noticed that numerous updates to add-on's have actually rendered them useless, Foxlingo was a great translation set up, but a recent update included a price comparison pop up that could not be switched off or removed.

Bye bye Foxlingo!

The later versions of Hyperwords actually removed some of the fantastic features of version 5.5.4, so I run that 'old' version instead, and a while back, Fast Dial axe murdered the settings of countless users (including mine) so I run Ye Olde Version!

I don't understand why the programmers screw up a perfectly functioning version, and ignore all the feedback from perplexed users.

I'm hearing a lot of mixed reviews on FF4. I'm still running v 3.6.16 and think I'll hold off a while until I think my add-ons have been updated.

Here's an article that will help you tweak FF4 to act more like previous versions:

Here's a page that has previous versions of FF available if you want to go back to an older version.

Here's a page with options for backing up your FF profile: "Backup your Firefox with FEBE, CLEO and MozBackup": http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/firefox-backup.html

I just loaded it yesterday.Having no problems and getting used to the rearrangement of things quickly. It did load a yahoo tool bar that took me a while to figure out how to remove.
