I've been using Firefox for a spell and I like it. But I'm wanting to know if there is an add-on or control that will allow me to dump all cookies except those from specific sites when I shut down.

Under my current settings, all cookies get deleted upon shut down. I don't like collecting cookies. There are cookies I would not mind keeping, such as the ones from BF, and I am too lazy to manually delete. So I'm wondering if anyone is aware of an add-on that will let me specify which cookies I want to keep and then let the system delete the rest.

Thanks,
Frank

If you run Spybot Search & Destroy once a week or more it'll delete any spyware cookies you've picked up. Then click Immunize and it'll immunize your browser (any browser) from accepting any known spyware cookies. They keep coming up with new ones, but I figure if it's only on my system a few days it can't do much data mining in that time.

Just got firefox installed last night , and had cookie probs also. Go to "tools" , then "options" , then "privacy" , then set your cookie options there.

Hope this helps man.

been there. done that. the option I want isn't there.

I may take Cougar's advice and let my security software do it for me.
I was just hoping for different.

My computer's security software asks me if I want to accept or reject cookies before they get loaded into the browser and for how long I want to keep them; i.e. just for this session or permanently. Take a look at some third party security software. This might be the answer for you.

WinPatrol is a great program (free) which has many useful tools.

One tool allows you to see all your cookies in various browsers and leave or delete them as you wish.

There might be an add-on you can download for Firefox that handles that issue, but from what I've seen, stock Firefox doesn't have that feature. Opera, on the other hand, does. Once you have the particular cookies you want set, you can choose to have Opera delete new cookies accumulated.

Actually, after doing a little search, there's an add-on called Add N Edit. It allows you to set permanent cookies, as well as session cookies, so if there are new cookies you don't want, you can have your session simply deleted.

Thanks, James. That may be what I am looking for. I'll giver her a shot.

BTW: In my searches, I came across and add on called "better privacy". It removes a type of cookie that browsers don't see. After the first sweep my system ran far faster.
