Yes they are black canvas micarta.Those look great. I have a couple of similar firesteels but am also curious as to what the handle is. It looks like micarta to me.

How much is a set up?
Nice set ups but I have a suggestion on the ESEE fire kit. It is probably not a good idea to secure it by using the rod. I would try to figure out a way to use the aluminum barrel as the structure holding the fire kit in the sheath. If you put enough stress on those rods you can break them off . So I could see maybe traveling through the bush and it gets hung up on a piece of brush and you fight your way through it only to find down the trail the rod is still in the sheath with the housing broken off and gone. Just my 2 cents. Mike
Good looking setups there. Question on the rod, when it is used up can the old on be removed and a new section put in or is the rod handle a one time thing?
