Does anyone have any opinions on the RMK firemans knife?? HAs anyone used it or heard stories about firefighters using it? How rougged is it? THanks.

In the next issue of the Randall Knife Society newsletter, #58, there will be an article on how the Randall fireman came to be. Regards, Rhett Stidham

I have one that I received in a trade. It is the stoutest, "small" fixed blade I've ever held. With it's 4", 1/4" thick, (at the spine), blade, it should be! It's beefed up even more with it's 1/4" full tang! I've had two Model #18's in the past and I would trust this one more under hard use. It's my favorite small fixer especially with the border patrol handle. It will take just about anything you can dish out. Even though it is heavy for it's size, it carries very easily and I can't understand why they aren't more popular.

My son is a fireman and I thought about getting him one to use. Wondered if the actual fireman have been carrying them. Any stories about Fireman actually carrying them regularly and using them???

For years I carried a box cutter in my fire coat. It cut most of what I needed and I wasn't out much if I lost it. Eventually I bought a Busse (hate to mention it here), which will even tolerate prying, probably the worst thing you can do with your knife.

So here's what I need to know before I buy a Fireman:
Has anybody tried prying anything with one, or any other Randall?
How has the edge of any RMK held up to chopping?
Not Fireman specific, but has anyone tried out their sawteeth on drywall?

Give me a reason to buy one!
