I want to ask a question.
I came across some 1/8 x 2 in firesteels and thought that size would tie up great inside a lanyard.
Now I can tie the cord about 3/4 in down and leave it as a handle or I can cover the steel completely. What way would you rather have.
Heres a pic of one I am tying for my mini uncle mojo.

Heres a pic of the finished handle fire lanyard and covered fire lanyard.

Assuming that you can easily push the steel out for use, while maintaining the wrap sufficiently tight that it can serve as a secure housing and a handle, I say wrap the whole thing. It won't be any longer, not much wider, imperceptibly heavier, and will protect the firesteel and its surroundings from bumps and dings.

If it is wrapped all the way it would have to be unwrapped to use.Maybe just about half way or so and use the rest as the handle.
I figure these will be for emergency use as they are much smaller than the big ones with handles.Still big enough for several dozen fires though.
