So just for the hell of it, I was thinking of squaring an edge somewhere on my Crkt eatin' tool for a firesteel. The question is, where? Where do you guys think it would be best, and also, what all in your gear do you have that can strike a firesteel? Or what have you used besides your knife ?

What about inside one of the hex wrenches? Hold it in your hand and do some practice scrapes on a ferro rod find out where it would feel most comfortable to scrape. Then square it there.

OFM said exactly what I was thinking. Square off the two sides that will contact either side of the fire steel. Make sure you are holding it so it points the scraper forward and not up. Then go to town!

I've used the Spyderhole on a few of my Spyderco knives before, works great if you're not worried about putting a mark or two on your knife. If it's a user no biggie IMO.
