Well, the UPS truck came today and delivered my order from Aldo! Of course the first chance I got I had to set upon destroying this beautiful steel... I sketched out a small bushcraft design and started grinding. I was thinking about heat treating myself, but I ordered the steel apparently before doing much research, so I think it is going to Peters until I can get some better tools. I got some 1095, 52100 and CPM154. This first one is 1095.

I used a sawzall and an angle grinder to cut the shape after I transferred my design onto the steel, and a dremel and my belt sander to begin refining the shape.

I just saw the second round of pics... I can't tell by the photo but keep that handle flat. Sweet design!

Keep up the good work!

After messing around with it a little bit, I am thinking that the handle is too long. I think that I may modify the design a little bit and shorten the handle a little bit so it doesn't look so funky and have a better blade to handle ratio... Something like this...

Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks! Yup, there was a small "oops" there. I will need to flatten out the handle a little bit. I should have put it on the wider belt and laid it flat and used a higher grit. I have some scratches to get out of it, so I will end up flattening it out and getting rid of my happy little, um, accident...
