couldn't wait for my custom PCKS (bg-42, elk, nickel), so i went to WallieWorld last night and picked up a 110.

i used to have one a long time ago. probably traded it for comic books.

first thing that struck me was the weight. my usual EDC lately has been a Spydie Military and the 110 is exactly twice as heavy (kitchen scale).

if i were to compare it to another knife i own it would be the Spydie Chinook (I). similar weight, lockback, clip point. but honestly i think the 110 is a heck of a lot more knife for the money. with the Chinook i think 'rugged', with the 110 i think 'craftsmanship'. not that the Buck isn't rugged, but the brass and wood downplay it.

as far as carry, i found the belt pouch to bulky. but then i remembered the days before pocket clips and found that it still fits perfect in that little 'watch pocket' on jeans. so that's where my will be riding.

great deal, good memories, can't wait for the custom....

Metis:

Your recipe for a custom Buck 110 sounds terrific. Elk horn scales look so so fine. Please post pics when you get it. The fit and finish of my custom 110--BG-42, stag, brass bolsters--are flawless. The Buck 110 is the ultimate American knife. And you know, the standard 110 from Wal-Mart is just as special. In fact, I'm getting one soon.

Enjoy your Buck in good health,
Johnny
