About a month ago I decided I wanted to try my hand at knife making. I had some basic items already, bench grinder, files, bandsaw and some other small items. I knew that I didn't want to buy all kinds of crazy tools for knife making, I wanted to just take my time and enjoy what I was doing.

I don't intent to ever sell any of the knives I make, almost all of them will be given away to friends, family or contests here on the forum.

I started out with a 2"x1/4"x12" 440c bar that I ordered online and just decided to get what I could out of it. I didn't want to spend a lot of money to begin with, so I figured this would be fine.

The first knife I made was based on a Kiridashi I got here on the forums from J.Mason. I ended up breaking the tip off of the Kiridashi I got from him and decided I really wanted another. So I made my own, with a little extra flare!

The second knife I just started working on today when I got off work. This one is nothing super special, just a basic fixed blade.

The first knife has been heat treated, the second one is still a work in progress but I hope to have it done this weekend.

Any tips on the second knife? I feel like it needs something else done but it, however I am just not sure! Maybe something done up around the thumb area?

Both these knives will have Toxic Green G10 with an Anso pattern on them!

Thanks for looking!
(sorry if this is in the wrong area...)

Nice start. Do what you like with the 2nd one. Anyone that tells you you're wrong is full of crap.

Second knife is a bit angular for my taste, but it looks good to me except right at the notch of the blade, that little spike towards the handle looks uncomfortable.
