first 5 minute "engage" review Jimislash

Its not really that fidgety ,unless you pinch it with your fingers ,unlock it with your index finger and flick it closed like an axis or AD20.It wont be as easy with the lock half way down the spine .not that i look for that on a knife anyway, and that lock is kind of ugly, too.

I saw this video earlier.

I first became attracted to Cold Steel some years ago shortly after they first started using its cts xhp premium steel. Strong knives, well put together, good materials. Great prices. They became my favorite carry knives.

Now, with the Engage, we get 4116 steel and plastic handles on the 3.5 in knife. Ok, I guess for $40. But $160?!? What happened to the great value that made Cold Steel respected in the knife community? Why would I want this knife instead of my Air Lite?

I always thought Lynn Thompson was under appreciated.

How far cold steel has fallen. The engage offers something about 1/4 the size of the old folding bushman, in inferior materials, at 5x the price. It is the same locking mechanism without the structural integrity or lanyard.

But, does it matter? They no long test or prove their knives; they just want you to look at them. So stare and then run away.

Slash did a video on the "Verdict" a couple days ago and he felt the need to tell people not to leave comments saying the verdict looks like a gas station knife.😳

Like the 3" Engage, would consider checking out the Verdict if it came in a better steel. Oh well...

I just watched a video with him looking over a new Kukri in 3V he just got. It looks like a nice blade, but he didn't do any testing. I've seen that blade grind get stuck in wood though and seems to be more of a fighter flesh eater to me than a wood chopper. I still wouldn't mind owning one though.

That looks like a decent $39 knife. If Cold Steel is actually asking g $160, as a poster above suggests, then they are out of their freaking minds.

id pay a bit more than 39 bucks myself, but not 160.

4116 steel and a plastic handle? You can buy an 3.5" Aus8a Finn Wolf with a Triad lock for $39. You can get a 2.5" Tuff-lite with a Triad for about $25.

What makes this knife worth more than that?

new lock

I can see how a new lock adds some value for those who are curious. The problem is that most buyers wont know or care. Those who do, knife aficionados, aren't gonna drop premium dollars on budget grade materials. Or not many.

Let's be honest, this grade of knife belongs in a blister pack in Walmart or Bass Pro.

don't disagree. no real argument here against that. just more id be willing to pay a bit more than 39...not a whole lot more than that........
