Well today the family took a hike through the parkway. Many of you have seen this area a few times before. Its a nice public parkway with alot of different terrain. Lots of flat trails through the woods for light hiking and alot of old over grown quarrys for difficult terrain for more advance wood walking. We usually go here with the kid, since he is only 2, and it gets him into the wilderness while still being relatively easy for him. Today tho, we decided to take a less beaten path and ended up hiking a ton of steep trails, with the kid in my arms, and making our own trails. Was real fun, and the kid even said it was a "gweat adwenture" Now i was hoping to take out the 15 but we know that story. So any knife pics just imagine a mini mag in its place. :D Didnt really do any knife work, since its a parkway so no camping/fire ya know the usual. But i really like the sheath attached to my pack. think ill leave one on there, and when my other tweener gets here use that sheath for the belt and interchange the knives accordingly. The peanut butter scales and tan sheath look awesome on my sandstone 5.11.

Trail blazing. Wish i had some more photos but really was worrying more about the kid and teaching him how to butt slide down steep hills, to stay away from sticker bushes, and to hold on tight to whatever he could including my neck.

Looks like an awesome time. Knife is lookin' good. ;)

It's so much fun to experience nature with your kids. It allows you to enjoy it on that juvenile level of wonder also. My daughter goes crazy when I take her to see trees and such. Congrats on the awesome knife and family.

Cool area, does it have a name?

Just the Whitehall Parkway. The main trail that runs through it is the Ironton RailTrail. It used to be an old train track, but since its been abandoned the township converted it to a walking trail. Altogether the trail is about a 10 mile tear drop loop, with the parkway at the top of the teardrop. The trail through the parkway is stones, the rest of the trail outside of the parkway is paved for biking and rollerblading etc. Besides the main trail there are tons of mountain biking and hiking trails all through the parkway. I wanna get a good bike and try going through it, some stuff you see people doing is just sick. Riding down 75-80 degree hills with all sorts of obstacles. It was actually one of the first places i learned about the outdoors as a kid with a summer camp that was there.

Very cool, I might have to take a trip down there over summer.

do not stab the trains :) it makes them cranky and they might charge...

awesome Clich! some beautiful pics!

Im with u on the leaving a sheath attached to a pack, soon as my production 17 arrives... Im utilizing the ''swap knives around in sheaths'' concept.

Thats a great looking son ya got there, hold on, let loose and cherish those memories!

Nice pics, thanks for sharing. Looks like a fun day.

Cute kid by the way, I've got a couple nephews that age.

thanks guys. I couldnt be a tease and take the bk16 for a hike withoutdoing something bushcrafty so to the backyard i went. I started with one of the most portable tinders paint stir sticks. I keep 6 or so in the hydration compartment, so light you never know they are there and in a pinch they offer great dry tinder. Batoned the sticks, made fuzzys, scraped off some fuzz from fatwood, made pencil sized sticks, one strike of the gobspark and she was underway.
