I was wondering if any of you guys practice and study alternative types of medicine.
I personally know a little about herbal remedies and I am also currently studying basic accupressure techniques.
I have found the accupressure extremely easy to grasp when you have actually needed them,
I have helped headaches, toothaches, migraines etc.
let me know

It's not that those don't work, they're just a little fussier or more detailed knowledge required to remember the different points and what each of them do compared to the simplicity of most common first aid issues.

Certainly worth knowing or learning, particularly for long term situations without medical services, but not necessarily practical for all outdoorspersons.

I could not disagree more, I got myself a small book for about 8 dollars worth super basic info tells you where the points are what they do and why they work.
over all it is 68 pages long, and covers about 30 ailments
It is extremely easy to learn what is in it,
Wether you wanted to upgrade your knowledge later is another matter but this book for me works.

The ISBN is 0-9523704-4-1

I too once has the delusion that is would take months of practice to get a grasp but believe me a day or two is enough with this book.

I know and use a few points myself. What I am basing my statement on is that I too once had an introduction to 30 or so. I don't remember them. It's too many variables and variations for the average joe to remember and rely on FIRST.

I do remember the cleanliness, direct pressure and such simple things because they work everyhwere everytime. Acupressure doesn't work for everyone. Some people get a few minutes relief, some an hour and some none. I'm not betting my primary first aid on that.

I grow herbs and have a cabinet so full of herbs and spices it won't close. Poultices, tisanes and such are fussy. Slow to make. What herbs for what situations. What culinary herbs to avoid for pregnant women. It's fussy, it's detailed. It's BIG. Dosing is a big issue and you don't know and can't control how strong any given herb is as that varies year to year and where it was grown.

It takes a fair sized kit to construct a good homeopathic first aid kit and it takes more knowledge to use. If you're down and your partner has to use it it to cure you, will he/she know how to use it?
