Hi all, a short search didn't really turn up the info I wanted about first-aid kits.
I am looking for something already packaged, because I am the type of person that would take a week to aseemble it from scratch.

I need something ver extensive for the house, and to put in the car (ok dammit, minivan) for long road trips. All the standard stuff, alon with a little extra room for nonstandard stuff I will throw in, like surgical glue, epinephrine pen, etc.

Needs to cover myself, wife, 2 toddler daughters.

Suggestions? Thanks, s.

try these. http://www.adventuremedicalkits.com/ they are comprehensive, well thought out, and dr.weiss is very well known in outdoor medicine. i think they would serve your needs, even if they are tailored more for outdoor use.

atwater carey makes some good kits too, but i cannot seem to find their website. did find a lot of selling places though.

I bought a kit for my bob bag from Walmart for $9.99 that serves as a good starter shell. It contains some bandages and meds, gloves, tweezers. I then added more stuff to it. They also had one in a nylon case similar to the adventure med kits for around $20 that looked pretty good.

Campmor.com sells their own brand of FAKs, that are easily comparable to the Adventure Medical Kits - at a much better price. Take a look on the campmor website, and compare the contents of a few - they are pretty darn similar. I've always felt that the AMK kits were seriously overpriced for what you actually get.

I realize that you don't want to build it yourself, but if you look at the list of items in the kit, then go buy those from a good EMS supply place (progressivemed.com is very good) - you can really save some money in the long run - if you don't want to buy a lot of stuff -how about making a few up for gifts, or get some friends involved ?

As for a bag - the AMK bags look an awful lot like a travel toiletry bag (had for less than $20 anywhere), don't you think?

Good luck!

Sam
