there is another thread inquiring about a very minimalist first aid kit.
I am interested in something on a grander scale. this will be a trauma kit (broken bones, large cuts, gun shot wounds) not a boo-boo kit with asprin and bandaids. i will have a seperate one of those
I am looking for something like an Army CLS bag. if i can buy the contents and the bag together, then awesome but i can find a bag pretty much anywhere. i have seen one or 2 CLS bags for $400+. my budget is myabe $100

What is the intended application environment? Specifically, how far/long will you be from an ER?

If you're intending to spend a few weeks in the back country and may be days away from an ER, that's one thing. If you will be in and around a city and no more than a few hours from an ER, that will be different.

not that any amount of tools or supplies could have saved him, i would have like to have been better prepared.
maybe a CAT tournequet, lots of gauze, israeli field dressings, splint, etc
it will make every trip to the range with me, maybe some other occasions as well.
something with hook and loop opening and molle straps is a must

give me a day to get back to my city and i'll take a pic of my major trauma kit, designed for mulitple chainsaw injuries, including amputation.

not at home right now, pics later
