So I just successfully got my old 2 dot buck 110 hair whittling sharp completely freehand with no guided systems or crock sticks. I'm pretty happy knowing that it can be done. I started with an old Eze-Lap diamond hone to reprofiled the bevel to a more acute angle. My Ark stones are at work so I decide to just try my Chinese 12k I use for my razors. I built a slurry up on the stone to help bridge the grit gap and diluted the water through the laps until it was just clear. I finished up with a few laps at a higher angle for a microbevel. Then loaded felt and leather for stropping. BOOM! Stupid sharp! Just wanted to share
