First attempt at a kydex sheath. Turned out very well!

So this was my first attempt at a kydex sheath. It actually turned out very well. I couldn't believe the detail that came out of the impression after I sandwiched the knife in between the warm kydex. You can see the busse logo and the coating crinkles, crazy. Anyway, I threw on a tek-loc and the fit is literally perfect. A positive and audible "click" upon insertion and it holds the knife during vigorous upside down shaking. Couldn't be happier with the results.

Nice job! What thickness kydex did you use?

Looks great, good job.

Looks great. I like the logo on the blade. Wish i could pull that off. I always tape the blade so it does not rub on the sheath alot. But that makes me think i should press in the logo after. Really cool. [emoji6][emoji106]

Well done. Been debating on whether to start down the diy kydex road or just keep buying them.

Looks really good! Hardest part for me is getting the eyelets spaced just right.

very cool, how did you heat your kydex?

I used a toaster oven. 300 degrees and for about 8-10 minutes. I ruined the first pieces because it was too hot and they curled on the edges. The second group turned out perfect because I waited until they were somewhat soft but still had structure to them before I pulled them out.

I would go for it, always better to do it yourself (financially speaking... at least for the most part).

It was fun and I'm definetly glad I got the parts to do it. I feel comfortable for a small and medium sized knife and taco style sheath. For anything larger, complex, or a folded style I would probably go with one of the amazing sheath makers on here.
