first attempt at a lanyard

Some may call it a fob, but I see it referred to as a lanyard most of the time. I didn't use paracord since I wasn't quite sure how it was going to come out. My 100' hunk of paracord is getting pretty short these days and I wanted to save it for another project. I used some cordage that came with a cheaper knife to make this. Added a couple of beads and some copper plated wire. The wire was a little softer than I thought it would be. Not sure how well it will hold up to everyday carrying. It feels like it might get knocked out of round after a while. Some new construction is going up a block over and I might go dumpster diving for some scraps of romex for some true copper wire. I never was one to carry around anything attached to a lanyard, or fob, but after seeing some pictures here, I think they really dress up a knife.

Nice job! They do look good, I have had them on knives I edc before but I found that I would get tangled up in them when trying to get at my knife. I do have them on knifes that I like to clip to things such as back packs etc.

I haven't been using the Cryo as my EDC. I actually just got it in last week. I don't see myself carrying a knife with a lanyard much anyway. I tend to keep a pen and keys in the same pocket as my knife and all three get removed several times a day while at work. I think the lanyard will get in the way. But I'm working on getting a new backpack soon for EDC use. I could see stufffing a couple of knives in there attached with a lanyard though.

Yes they are great for that I also have them on knives without pocket clips (actually lets call that knife in my case as I only own one that doesn't have a clip).
 
Nice job! I really like lanyards on my knives as it eases removal, especially with deep carry clips.
 
Found some purple paracord, ripped the inner strands out and added an orange Skyline. The cord came out looking more blue than purple. I'm not sure if the two colors go together. I may unbraid it and add it to a black handle knife. Maybe the Blur.

Looks great!
Me and my son are starting to make some lanyards and stuff. Having fun learning.
