I know...it's a Swamprat. But who in their right mind would start out on a Busse. Plus, the Chopweiller needed it. Note the pronounced rear-grip, very uncomfortable and bigger than other Rats I own. It was worse, I didn't take a before picture, but it needed to be gone!

May take some more off....

But I got carried away and also ground down the spine. I plan to completely strip it and polish it.

My question is, does acetone cause pitting?

Do you mean, will acetone cause pitting of the steel? It shouldn't, but it is also not the most effective paint stripper. You will probably be better off buying proper paint stripper. Jasco is one brand that a few people have mentioned, but I suspect they are all approximately equal.

btw, beside the spine, exactly what did you do? Did you narrow the grip area?

I think he meant the height... Too bad you don't have another one available for comparisons. Like to see the difference in the height of the palm swell area.

acetone should not cause any pitting on the steel. We used it to take off oil on steel rings at my old job. As long as the acetone is not contaminated with water etc. It does tend to leave a whiteish film as it dries, but that would come right off I believe if you cleaned the blade later with something or oiled it again.
