Here's a couple duplex grind drop point hunters I just finished up. This was my first attempt at this grind. The steel is CPM 154CM, scales are green canvas micarta and ivory paper micarta, both with red liners on tapered tangs. This was a really fun project  I have a new found understanding and admiration for the geometry. I hope you like them ;)

Please excuse the poor photos, I think its time for a new camera and a bit of practice in photoshop :o

That is an interesting grind. I am not sure if I like it or not, but it certainly is interesting and it looks like it took alot of work to achieve that way. Does this grind aid in tip penetration? (looks like it to me)

I think it would improve the push-cutting performance of the final part of the blade too.

Loveless designed this and made some of them and WC Davis has made a few. Very interesting concept in utility. I like'em. Very nicely done too !

Thanks for the feedback barrabas, I felt the same way about the grind prior to attempting it. The geometry of the grind close to the handle puts more steel behind the edge for tougher cuts while maintaining a thin edge profile near the tip for skinning/caping. This grind has been around for quite a while and from what I've gathered you either like it or you don't ;) . After having made these I can definately see the versatile nature and usefullness of the design. Thanks again :)

David,
I really hate manmade handle material, just always have. Your knives with the ivory paper micarta are slowly but surely changing my mind. I really like them and I think I might have to break down and give the ivory a shot soon. Very nice work!
Matt

Flatgrinder, yes it does doesn't it. Except for the hump in the handle. Contact wheels I used were 10" & 14"

Thank you very much Matt :) I love Ivory Paper Micarta , it's much easier to work with than some would have you believe. When dirty, it cleans right up. For some reason it has a bad rep
