First Attempts at Hamons

There's a funny stain on the blade... can that be polished off?
Just kidding, nice job.
What was your sanding and etching process?
We have a hamon thread going here somewhere with some different methods compared.

Honestly not a lot. About 6 quick etched (only about 5 to 10 seconds) in 4to1 FC followed buy very light sanding with 2000 grit sandpaper and windex. No polishing.

Nice.
I took mine to 2000 also, but only used 3M polishing sheets (4000) between and after etches.
I found going back to 2000 to be too aggressive.

I'll have to try that. I found that sanding very lightly was better. Too much pressure would wash things out so what you said makes a lot of sense.

Yeah, what I like about the pink 3M sheets is you can polish vigorously, but not wash it out. You can try with a little bit of Break Free also.
