I am just getting into balisongs and am trying to decide on what knife i should get. Should I buy a Jaguar? Are they any good? Or should i buy some cheap one to see how i like it first? I like one of the Jag's but i dont know anywhere that has them. The only place i know of is online and my mom wont order online, any help?? Thanks

Don't know where you're from but the reason you might not see them in stores is because they are illegal in your state. Being that your mother won't buy it online for you, that means she might not want you to have it. Either that or she doesn't trust buying something online. For now you might be S.O.L., unfortunately. Stick around here though, you'll learn a lot.

Im in Michigan, i think it is legal to carry, but to have in my house its perfectly legal, also, im only 14 so its ilegal for me to carry anything unless im hunting, i have found a 4"tanto Damascus bladed black/silver annodized handles in "The Bud K Catalog" for 39.95. Anyone know of this knife? Anyone know of this magazine?
P.S. Its the fall 2000 magazine and its on page 17. I really want the Jag bali from knifezilla but my mom hates ordering online.
thanks, any help??

Just don't mention your age when you order online. Find a site that will allow you to pay by money order then go to the gas station and pick one up for that amount. Thats the way I always did it untill I got a credit card. Alot of places still allow you to order online and pay with a check or money order. It's the underage person's way around the age barrier.

I think the tanto you found is the dreaded bear. I would stay away from that, I have little personal experience with them, but I have heard nothing but negative comments on them and I dislike their action. I think the jag would be a good starter, the ones I have handled seem to be pretty decent.

Nice, Balilover. I was trying to avoid the whole "sneak around your mom's back and this is how you could get one" thing. I figured that it would be best to let him/her figure that one out themself. Now that the cat's out of the bag, yeah, that will work. I used to order out of Bud K too with money orders when I couldn't get them otherwise. Either way, I don't think that this thread should have turned into how he can decieve his parents.

BaliLover, I don't know if you know this.. but buying knives when you are underaged is illegal. And I don't think it's a very good idea to make a post telling someone who is underaged how to commit a crime successfully. Not that I mind, but I think it'd be a good idea if you'd edit your post.

I have to agree with KentDog on that one. It is information that one must come to on their own if they are willing to do it. I don't think this is a place that would like to condone that sort of action. If you feel it necessary to give info like that, at least do it in a way that doesn't make it public. I probably would have said something earlier, but I just noticed that your post came in a few seconds before mine and I didn't read it then.

yes, and carrying bali's in most places are illegal too yet we still do it. when you deliberately drive over the speed limit, you're breaking the law

but going behind your parents backs' is moreso immoral and i'd avise against it anyway. because if your parents find out about it your screwed

. the difference between this and my example is that one is deceptive. just try to get your parents un-paranoid of ordering online. research whatever site and ask us about that site. then we'd probably end up giving it the thumbs up. then what you do is print it out and show it to your mom. works most of the time.

I also have to agree with KentDog. You should never condone anything that is unlawful. What it all comes down to is whether his/her parents allow it in their home, regardless of age. I too suggest editing your post.

I'm sorry if I offended any of you but the impression I got is that the knife he wanted was online and his mom was not comfortable with purchasing from online sources. I did not however get the impression that his mother did not want him to have one. If you notice, he later commented that he paid by CHECK. What 14 year old has a checking account? So I'm assuming that his mother does not mind. I was never intending to give instructions on how to decieve his parents, just information on how he can get the knife he wants if his mom won't help him with online purchases.

It's okay, BaliLover; I'm certainly not offended. I just think that the parent has a right to know what their kids possess (especially if it is a weapon; you must get permission first, and if permission is denied, you shouldn't get one anyway.)

Also, just a note, Mario's the one who sent the check for the bali from knifezilla, not pedder... you don't know whether or not Mario is 14. Also, many 14 year olds have checking accounts; they are joint accounts with their parents... I had one when I was that age.

No, my mom doesnt care if i have one, heck i got 3 auto knives, a handgun, an AR-15 and 2 shotguns, she doesnt care of me having "one more sharp thing" as she puts it. I just counted and have 36 knives, a little obsessed with blades? i think so

but im careful with them so its all good, i am going to try and buy a Jag but if i cant i'll settle for the tanto in Bud K.

KentDog, Sorry about the mistake, I guess I got mixed up when Mario said he had just bought one by check. I don't agree that the parents have a right to know because there are ALOT of soccor moms out there that are very confused about weapons. Pedders mom is OBVIOUSLY

not one of them however. I don't look at my knives as weapons but as tools or exercise equipment. I've suffered less damage from my knives than I did playing football or riding my bike but many soccor moms feel that knives are deadly weapons. I can however understand your point when you say that the parents have a right to know. I feel it is more of a responsibility than a right however and good parents will discover what their child is doing most of the time.

Yeah, the AR-15 isnt MINE but its in my gun case with my lock on it. One of the shotguns was my grandpa's but he gave it to me(old double barrel) the other one i bought for hunting(Remington 870) and the handgun was giving to me as home protection(my mom hates shooting) so now i gotta do the dirty work(dont ever want to) Anyway, i might be able to get her the buy the Jag, does Knifezilla take checks or money order? She just doesnt like her credit card online.
thanks again, you have helped a lot, i'll come back to learn more very often

Hmmm, you would think a Mother would be more worried about all those weapons in the house than shopping online... different strokes for different folks I guess, lol.

"Ouch..."

Yeah, but she knows i know how to shoot, clean, and make sure all my guns are not loaded so she doesnt worry about them to much. and she has all my ammo except my handgun ammo which is locked in a different safe. She just doesnt want some crazed idiot to steal her credit card number and take all her money. LOL
