My traditional knife collection needs a kick start. Haven't bought anything in a while and the Barlow pattern caught my eye. But there are so many. Not looking to start off with a GEC or anything, but not a $5 knife, either.

Where should I start? Thanks!

(P.S. I started looking at the Barlow pic thread. Had to stop. Too many sweet knives!)

I second Rough Rider - excellent. Also Queen barlows are outstanding (D2 steel) but you can get 6-8 Rough Riders for the price of a Queen. Also the new Taylor Schrade barlows aren't bad. Then there are Utica, Bear and Sons, Boker Plus and A.G. Russell barlows.

Find an older one on the auction site. Couldn't go wrong with an old USA made Schrade, Case, Boker, or Imperial. If you are patient you can score all but the Case for less than a 20 dollar bill.

I'll second boker all the way

Thanks for the replies. I only realized recently that Boker made traditionals.

Forgot about A.G. Russel. I used to love their catalog!

I'll check out a few over the weekend.
