- for some reason I though it'd be thinner (a YouTube "reviewer" said this). Maybe it is? But I dont notice nor care.
- satisfyingly smooth action, a nice "thunk" closing.
- I understand why theres no flipper, the lines are smooth and beautiful. But I still wish for one.
- the size is great, makes you wish for a regular elementum XL.

Great piece, well worth the price, fit and finish came 10/10. I think Nifecenter is taking pre orders if you missed out, good luck guys.

Edit: blade locks closed, cant arm swing open.
I'm now 99.9% certain this is considered gravity knife, but feel free to correct me.

Snagged the same model you got, just arrived today. My only issue with it is that my fiancée is a huge fan of the Hannibal television series, took one look at it and said, "Oooh, that looks like a knife Hannibal would use," so I have a sinking feeling that this one will end up hers and I'll be hunting for another.

More seriously, I'm impressed. I generally like more understated knives, but the red shred carbon fiber and Damascus make for a really attractive package. Button is a little stiff, but I imagine that will loosen up with time. I don't particularly mind it being button lock release only, and I actually somewhat enjoy the fact that it locks closed as well as open, but it strikes me that a front or top flipper on a design like this could preserve the clean lines and make for a handsome knife with even more fidget factor fun than this one has.

(If she steals this one I have to decide whether to indulge my love for micarta or try to pick up a blue shred carbon fiber, so we can have his and hers ;))

Here it is next to the OG elementum.

I noticed the "thunk" comes from a small part of the liner that engages on the lock when the knife is fully open/closed, almost like a compression lock. None of my button locks do this so this is a very interesting design!

Edit: Elementum XL/Elementarge Civivi! Make it happen!

Can either of you explain the lock mechanism to me? It sounds like it's not a standard button lock, but more like the Spyderco Smock, a button-actuated compression lock. Is that the case? Or is it something totally different/new? TIA.

As far as I can tell it operates mostly like a plunge lock on an automatic, locking the knife open and closed. The biggest difference from that seems to be in the spring, in that there's no coiled spring in the button mechanism, it instead uses a section of the liner as a spring, in the same way a liner lock does, but only to engage with the button, not the lock interface.

Ah, I see what you're saying, thanks. Interesting implementation.

I really NEED this in a flipper version. I have the OG version in marble CF, absolutely fabulous knife and action.
