AMAZING OUTSTANDING.......
A few words that can describe the Becker Magnum Camp. It arrived yesterday and I just can't put it down it refuses to leave my hand.
All right here are some first impresions before put to use:
The knife is a Becker so quality is undisputed. The blade as all Beckers has nothing funcy just a straight forward "use me hard and have fun doing it" atitude.
As far as uses are concerned the BK5 was designed to food prep and in this it will definately exell. An other use that is hiden by the name and the concervative appearance of the knife is that of a soldiers-fighting. In that purpose it is light so very cariable and very manuverable-lively in hand. It has reach it will slash and it will chop an arm if needed.
Lets continue with the blody use. This one would be skining yes skining but believe me the blade shape and the thiness of the grind and edge will make this a terrific 8in bladed skining knive.
Other uses are general camp chores and to some extend fire prep
All in all is a fun blade to own, to play with and I believe to use.
Last I want to mention once more the edge and grind thinness. Those people at Becker must have a lot of confidence in their steel and heat treatment to allow a hard use knife to go out in such a thin grind (unlike others see Busse with their axe like edges).
Thanks for reading my crap
Enjoy
