Ordered and received my very first Becker knife last week, a Becker BK2.

First thing I noticed was the weight, this knife is a beast. I'm not too fond of the Grivory handles, they're a bit slick. Guess I'll have to purchase some micarta scales one of these days.

I wasn't too fond of the factory coating, so I stripped it off and gave it a "snakeskin" patina, and convexed the edge as well.

Took it out into the woods over the weekend and chopped and batoned a bit, along with regular cutting chores, held up just fine.

The only major problem I have with it is the sheath. It seems to dull the edge quite a bit after inserting it and removing it a couple times. Does anyone know of a solution to this?

I'm quite pleased with the knife, and definitely plan on getting more Becker knives in the very near future.

if you dont like the sheath your best bet is to get a custom one either kydex or leather depending on what you like. im already looking for some kydex for one of my beckers

Looking good!

Also, you should check out the G10 scales Dale @ TKC has. Not cheap, but if they are half as good as his scales for the ESEE line, they are well worth the money.

btw, if your sheath is dulling the blade you can either be extra careful to make sure that the spine of the blade is tight to the sheath when inserting and drawing. other than that ive heard of people filing the inside of the sheath where the blade is making contact but i have not tried it nor heard if it worked for them or not

Hey Warren......

Thanks for buying one of my knives......Try the Grivory for a while......The grip is designed to fit your hand well enough so the surface can be pretty smooth and therefore not cause blistering or hot spots with prolonged use.....I love the Micarta from an aesthetic standpoint and it always screams quality at me but the grivory is plenty utilitarian......Glad you like the blade and I hope it works it's tail off for you......

All Best....

Ethan

Its a sweet blade my friend. If I'm going to chop, I grab my 9. If I'm going to clean a squirrel, I grab my 16. If I'm in the kitchen, I go for my 15. Every single day, I carry my 11. If I'm going out with no ideal of what I might need, I grab my 2. Its my general purpose grab and go blade.

Great knife! My stock sheath was dulling the edge so I made a leather one. I love mine. Thank you Ethan Becker.

What I did was cut an old bicycle innertube to he length of the grip and slid it on the handle. The rubber makes a heck of a difference.

I finally got my foam for my kydex press so I need to give sheath making a go.

The sheath can be fixed with a number of things.

1. Replacement. Really the way most people go, get a leather or kydex or nylon job instead.

2. Use. Tons and tons of drawing and re-sheathing will eventually cut a groove where the sheath outer wall is rubbing and causing issues. This takes time though.

3. A small triangle file or something along those lines can be slid up and down the offending areas inside the sheath and will fix it up pretty quick, but make sure to rinse out any chunks left inside and dry it well. Rinse repeat as needed.

Hope that gets you sorted. BK2 is a beast of a knife, and with a little work can be a really amazing tool.

For the handle scales, I had mine on my BK16 sandblasted and it made all the difference in the world. They are grippy without being sticky or causing hotspots, and I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Paper towel soaked in acidic solution, i.e. vinegar or something of that nature.
