Well everyone, I decided to go for it with no planning whatsoever. I stripped, scotch brighted and put a patina on my BK2.
It's different on each side because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do... I kinda like that fact that they are different though!

The first time I had ever seen the becker without scales:

This was not supposed to be anything in particular, just an attempt:

This side is actually three different techniques I didn't like any of them but together they all added up to looking like snakeskin or something.

Thanks everyone.

I thought this was a thread about Bladite.
Nice job on the patina though. :D

For the first side, 100% of the process was this:

I just poured mustard all over it and let it sit for 30 minutes.
For the second side, I wanted some blueing (The color, not the process) so I did a light smear of horse radish. It worked great but was so subtle compared to the other side I started scoth brighting it again. As it lightened up I thought it may look cool if I put some mustard on top of it. and I ended up with this:

finally I drentched a paper towel with vinegar on a cookie sheet and layed the two on top with a gallon of water on top to weigh it down for about ten minutes.

Nice job on the knife. i like mine without the coating more than i thought i would i'm still debating whether to try a patina or just let it go by itself. the one you put on looks good

that looks great, good job! I think I am the only person in the history of patinas that cannot get the mustard to work.

If you have any moisture on the knife it will not work as well, and you have to just really let it sit... don't stir it up or move it around, just walk away and keep yourself busy for thirty minutes.

I love the looks of these patinas. The reason I'm hesitant about doing one is simply cause I love water and am in and around it constantly while in the mountains and stuff during the summer. I've had some of my AUS8 blades develop a little rust. So:

Does the patina add any rust resistance?

Do yall have any problems with your uncoated blades rusting? I'm fine with oiling them every once in a while but I don't want a high maintenance knife...that's the opposite of what Beckers are designed for :)

Came out really good. Makes me think about doing a pattern on one of mine but I am so hesistant because I love clean lines.

I haven't taken it out and checked yet but I know the reason people do this is to essentially force a rust to it so that it will be more rust resistant. I am very happy I did this... makes it my own. if it develops any rust, I will scotch bright it again and redo it... no big deal.

Whereas the idea of a pattern/design appeals to me I have no concern as far as rust on my stripped Beckers. My 2 has been clean shaven for sveral years now and I have not a hint of rust on it.
