I ended up being really happy with how they turned out and it was a fun project and gives me a connection with my knives

Nicely done! I got an 11 in the mail today and just got done stripping it as well. So easy! It's taking a patina bath as I type this. ;)

Yours turned out great!

i'm going to be ordering the micarta scales for the 16 in a few days here and then trying out patinas on them i think..any suggestions? this will be my first attempt at doing one..a lot of people on this forum can do some really nice looking ones from what i've seen.

Also thanks for the kind comments :)

My favorite method of patina is using the blade for daily food prep. I cut a lot of shallots and eat a lot of steak. Recently I've been using grapefruit and today I just tried mustard, though anything acidic works. I just started a grapefruit/mustard patina on my 11 and it's turning out nice for me so far. I was thinking of using my favorite hot sauce just so it's more personal. ;)

Whatever you use just have fun! Looks like you are!

So I prepped a meal with my 11 and the patina is really taking off. This is from shallots, garlic, and hot sauce mostly. The knife was NIB this morning.

I love natural patinas. I will occasionally force a very light patina with apple cider vinegar, but mostly let the steel mature on its own.

Yeah, I say natural patinas are the way to go.
Ive seen a lot of cool looking forced patinas here on the forum.
Every patina Ive forced, i have sanded off...just not my cup of tea I guess.
My BK5 is my go to kitchen knife and Ive just let it form a natural patina. Looks cool.

I think my 11 needs to see some potato action!! Great looking knives fellas keep up the great work!!!

Thanks for the advice guys i think ill just start using them in the kitchen and see what happens..no need to force anything i think it will be more of what i'm looking for just letting it naturally form a patina

I've taken this route as well. I do not oil my 2, so whatever develops on there is what develops.

I really like how this is turning out. I have not stripped any of my beckers yet but, after seeing this, when I do I think I will try the natural route for patina
