I would like to get myself a becker, and cant decide on one. Maybe I'll get two:D .
I will probably get a brute if its in stock, but what do you guys think of the crewman(BK-10) vs the combat utility(BK-7)? and is the BK-9 too long and unweildy? it looks like a machete.

Thanks for the help guys

I have a BH7, BK10 & a Necker. I think the 7 is my personal favorite.

Between the 7 and the 9, I like the BK-9 better. Outstanding chopper. However, if you're looking for an all-around, the BK-7 is probably your best bet.

My first Beckers were a BK2 Companion and a BK3 TacTool. Those two have been on many trips. Of all my Beckers, believe it or not, the BK3 TacTool has seen the most use. I reprofiled the main edge to give it a little more versatility. That thing will take a baton all day long like nobody's business.

I guess it depends what you're planning on doing wth the blade. The BK9 and BK1 are great choppers, but I usually carry a hatchet when I camp. I have found the BK10 Crewman to be a better carver than the BK2, but the BK2 does have more heft for impromptu chopping tasks. The BK7 is a great all-arounder, and one of the best deals on the market for a field knife, IMO. The BK11 Necker makes a great companion to the larger blades like the BK1 or BK9.

They all seem to fill a multi tasking role for the most part. BK10 a short stout chopper for shelter, firewood good HD Utility. BK2 short shout chopper, mabey SD to a point, general purpose knife. BK7 All purpose Utility, camp and fighter. BK9 HD chopper for shelter, firewood, hacking self defence. BK1 about all of the above plus short machete use.

I think the BK9 and BK1 would carry nicely sandwiched between main pack body on the side and under some aux long pouches I am going have have made for Maxpedition Vulture 3 day.

The BK7, BK2 and BK10 would seem to carry a little easier or a pistol belt (one at a time of course). Then a large folder for small camp/utility use, really liking the CRKT Desert Cruiser and/or the CRKT M21-04 for HD folders.

BK9 if you can only get one and you like big knives then I would go for the BK7. This is just my opinion since I dont carry knives under 6" unless they are used for skinning.
