Well, thanks to my buddy JV3, I took possession of my new-to-me BK9 today. Got to play with her a little bit today and get a feel for how she works out chopping and splitting wood, and I am really impressed. It's a hell of a knife, for sure, and it's surprisingly light and easy to control. The handle shape is awesome, and although I plan to slap a 550 cord lanyard on the back for choppin' purposes, grasping the swell at the pommel makes chopping even better. This one will get some serious use! :D

I'm planning on scooping up a set of micarta scales at some point. Also, the sheath is just ok. It does it's job and holds the knife plenty secure, but I'm trying to think of a way to mount this baby to the side of my Kifaru Scout. Anyone have any experience with a '9 in one of those Lost Mountain Iron Works "Footlong" sheaths they did up for the Junglas and knives like that? I think it'd fit pretty well, and lash up really nicely to the side of my pack.

Pics, because what's a good thread without 'em? ;)

Some wood she split. Kicks ass. And this wood was hard. (Easy now.. :D)

Well, thanks for looking. Stoked to get back out and chop and destroy with this knife!

Great pics. Congrats!
Seems like there was some talk about Spec Ops doing a 10" sheath.
I have the Lost Mountain "John Holmes" and it's a great sheath, especially for the money.
I'm sure the Footlong is the same.

Nice post. I have a 7 on the way but 2 9's in boxes sitting behind me, teasing me, calling my name. I may have to rob from myself and take one. Every time I see a post of a 9 in action, I get all warm and fuzzy inside.

Nice! I don't have a '9 yet, but it's on my short list for sure. I don't think I need one, but I sure do want one...

Nice grab, man!

congrats on a great purchase!! way to get out and use it immediatley.
I hope to get a 9 soon. what are you gonna get next?

Great pics, great knife. That BK9 is a true work of metalurgical art. Functional, beautiful, and real game changer in tough woods. I love mine, and I try to use it as much as I can, but I been falling in love with my BK2 all over again, getting ready for this RAT School, and its been kinda lonely, even though it goes with me everywhere everyday, in my BOB.

It does get fondled pretty well when I'm at home, so, it doesn't feel too left out.

Thanks for taking us with you, good post.

Thanks, guys. Looks like the next purchase won't be a knife, per se, but probably a LMIW sheath. Definitely a set of those sweet micarta slabs, though. I dig grippy handles.

Congrats on your new blade.

The 9 is one of my favorites too. Said this before, but it's got a great feel
for a big knife. Light and easy to use. Doesn't beat the snot out of you when you work it either.

Enjoy.

Hey Nadz.....

Nice....Glad you like your first Becker acquisition....Thanks for the kind words and great pics.....I could almost smell the woodsmoke and there was no fire....LOL.....

Thanks for your post.....

All Best.....

Heck of a big knife. I enjoyed carrying mine with me pretty much every time I've hunted (lots and lots) since I got it this past Christmas.

Thanks, guys. This knife is going to get permanently affixed to the side of my Scout, methinks. I definitely dig it a LOT.

Congrats! The 9 is the next one I'm gonna buy.....the last two were the BK10 Crewman and the Persistence pre-order......hopefully end of month I'll have it!

Hopefully I'll hear back from the Lost Mountain Iron Works folks soon. I wanna get the ball rolling on a Footlong sheath for this guy. That Persistence looks really good, too.

sweetness! that was my first becker too! i actually thought about selling that knife to riz_aaroni then backed out...a few weeks later i was finally going to sell it to rescueriley (all boxed up and ready to ship) but i backed out at the last minute so i ended up buying him a brand new one for the same selling price :o

a few weeks later i decided to sell it again since i just can't stand an un-used knife. with your photography skills, i think i picked the right one to spread the beckerhead disease :D hang on to that one, bro. if i win the lottery and can now afford to hire someone to take it to the woods and beat the crap outta it 40 hrs a week i'm buying it from you at 10 times the price :D

if you decide to sell it, let me know...i'll be more than happy to buy it back.

congrats on a great purchase!! way to get out and use it immediatley.
I hope to get a 9 soon. what are you gonna get next?

When my 9 arrives, I can't go out and immediately put it to use. I'm pretty sure that someone would call the cops when they see me chopping trees with it in Central Park.
