Well, thanks to my buddy JV3, I took possession of my new-to-me BK9 today. Got to play with her a little bit today and get a feel for how she works out chopping and splitting wood, and I am really impressed. It's a hell of a knife, for sure, and it's surprisingly light and easy to control. The handle shape is awesome, and although I plan to slap a 550 cord lanyard on the back for choppin' purposes, grasping the swell at the pommel makes chopping even better. This one will get some serious use!
I'm planning on scooping up a set of micarta scales at some point. Also, the sheath is just ok. It does it's job and holds the knife plenty secure, but I'm trying to think of a way to mount this baby to the side of my Kifaru Scout. Anyone have any experience with a '9 in one of those Lost Mountain Iron Works "Footlong" sheaths they did up for the Junglas and knives like that? I think it'd fit pretty well, and lash up really nicely to the side of my pack.
Pics, because what's a good thread without 'em?
Some wood she split. Kicks ass. And this wood was hard. (Easy now..
)
With the other knives I had with me today.
Well, thanks for looking. Stoked to get back out and chop and destroy with this knife!
