I posted in the ka bar forum and was told to come here. I don't have any kabar knives and am looking to pick one up. So I'm thinking Becker. My budget is under $80. I want a good sheath. Blade shape ideal for camping and outdoor use. Strong blade that won't break with batoning. I just want a robust knife that can handle whatever I through at it

Bk22 if your want the condura sheath...same knife different sheath..

Which is better. Want something secure that can strap or clip securely to a pack or to my belt
The regular sheath with a Tec lok will hold the knife more secure than the condura sheath...The knife will fall out of the condura if left unsnapped.

BK2 comes with a hard plastic sheath.

BK22 is the same knife but with a polyester sheath and costs about $5 more.

Just a tad lol

I have both and I prefer the regular with a Tec lok...I never use the 22 sheath other than storing the one I'm not using.

Dude, honesty. You should look at the bk16. I own the 2 and yes, it does baton like a champ. But as long as you don't bite off more than you can chew. (As with any knife) then the 16 will suit your needs. Are you looking for an axe supplement? The Becker line up has great choppers. But nothing wears a hand more than doing fine work with a big blade. I don't mind using my 2 for fine work, it's razor and will feather like a dream. It's just a 2 tho. It won't carve the same as a thinner knife. The 16 has a nice balance to it and can baton reasonably sized wood for your tinder sticks for fires. If you want to quarter logs go with a 2.

^well damn just seen the last post. Maybe I've started the addiction. Either way you'll love both blades. I bought the 2 and wanted something smaller so I got the 14... Then I wanted a nice mid size and got a 16-'oh look, the 5 is on sale'... Another becker... Lol

Why would I do that? Also, how :)
The coating is kinda ruff and creates drag when going thru wood and other material..plus it starts wearing off anyway..
