Just joined this awesome forum already learned a bunch in a couple of hours.
I am just getting into quality knifes been carrying a SOG Mini-Tac for the last 18 months
and a Ken Onion Kershaw leek. I recently bought a CR "Pacific" knife used for a good deal and that got me looking
for a quality folder. So I ordered the CR small Inkosi but it didn't talk to me like I thought it should and just a tad small
so it got returned and am now awaiting my BM 5500 mini auto Presidio I hope it feels better in the hand and auto's are legal here so why not.
Any thoughts on this knife? I seem to like knifes with 3" blades any thing bigger seems just to big although I have XX large hands.
Thanks,

I don't recall ever handling that particular knife, but I do have a few 527s. I think the dimensions are the same, the 527 just has a plastic handle and is manual action. I have medium size hands and it just feels too blocky for me, but with your larger hands it may work out just right. If not, you may like the 2550/51 mini-reflex, it's more similar in size to the Leek. I personally like the 4300 CLA, it's a hand filling size handle but also very thin in the pocket. It's bigger than you prefer and maybe a bit broader as well, but I generally like smaller knives and I'm comfortable with it.

And BTW, welcome to the forum.

Corey thanks for the recommendation on the 2551 I just put one in my cart if I don't take to the 5000 and I may not like the pull action to get it to open my SOG is the push button same as the 2551 so I may not have my knife that I really like yet.

Oh yea, I had forgot about it being an axis auto. I've got a 5300 full size tanto version, it's too big for my liking and I don't ever carry tanto blades anyway, but I did try it a few times and kept wishing it had a thumb stud on it (which would make it dual action I guess). I love the manual action axis lock, but the auto axis just doesn't do it for me. You still might like it though, it's a cool little knife for sure.

Here's a little size comparison of some stuff I have...

4300 CLA
527 Ultralight Mini Presidio
2550 Mini Reflex

This is why I prefer the CLA, the thinness and the deep carry pocket clip, it carries like a much smaller knife. I do like the blade shape and size on the mini reflex much better though.

The mini Reflex is one of my favorite autos to carry/use.

Thanks,

Like you I just joined this forum, just bought a new Benchmade and I also have been carrying a SOG Mini-Tac. (small world isn't it)

If you've not handled a Benchmade before you will be blown away at the quality when that 5500 comes in. (I was)

I went with the 8600 Bedlam Auto because I think it's just too cool to not own.
I'll get a axis lock manual of smaller size next to EDC.

Enjoy your new 5500 Presidio and post plenty of pictures.

How do you like the mini tac? I carry a spec elite a lot also.

Mini-Tac is great to carry, slim, deep pocket carry, lightweight with decent steel I think it is AUS-8. I really like it but need another EDC and SOG puts a lifetime warranty on it as well.

I like my Mini-Tac for the same reasons Bladegunner just mentioned. However, it has not held up well as there is a bunch of play in the blade. I emailed SOG this weekend about possible warranty work. Two years of EDC and I basically wore the thing out. Reason why I just purchased a Benchmade

Thank you and Blade for the info. I've owned several BM autos...y'all should love them
