I decided to take advantage of some cooler weather here today and a new knife that arrived last week. What you all are seeing are some pics of a little area on the far east side of Tucson called Sabino Canyon. Every now and again, someone will have a little mountain lion encounter here, but we had none of that today. It was just a nice day to get out and relax and forget about the daily grind, which will ba back in force tomorrow. BTW, the fish in the one pic I believe are Gila Chubs, an endangered species. The three "rugrats" seemed to enjoy themselves as well. Enjoy!

Cool - looks like a day of fun and a lot better weather than we have up here - 50s and raining.....

Hey man, I miss back home, thanks for the pics. I lived right around the corner from Sabino, about a 2 minute drive, some cool trails there, especially 7 falls.

Hmmmmmm, I don't remember seeing a SHII with smooth fasteners before (lots of BBSHSH), must be a real early one! Nice score! :D

Awesome pictures. I almost moved to Tucson years back.
See/hear any rattlesnakes while walking thru?

Very nice pictures bro...water looks cool and fun.

Great knife...SHSHII eh? Smooth bolts too, the ones I've had, have always been slotted but either way they are great knives to use. Good looking too! Congrats on a good find.

I'm thinking it's A2, right Tim? The slotteds were the transitions knives weren't they?

Just curious if my thinking is correct.

Sweet score and pics, OTE! Obviously warmer where you are...I had to use some heat up here Sunday AM! Stay safe!

That's some beautiful country, OTE. Looks like a great place to have some fun with your kids and knives.

Correct, I would think an A2 blade.

Cool pictures, what kind of fish were those?

I believe they were Gila Chubs. A few years ago when we had the Rodeo/Chedisky fire here in AZ, they actually captured a lot of these guys and transported them to temporary living quarters elsewhere since they likely would have died in water with heavy concentrations of ash in it.

Not too sure yet, but 7 Falls might come this next weekend. I've never been though. Is it a tough hike? Any words of advice???

No rattlesnakes this time. I hit Romero Pools up in Catalina State Park over the summer and did come across a medium-sized one on the trail then. It's funny how a lot of folks NOT from this area believe that rattlesnakes are everywhere. I get out a fair amount and still have only seen a handful or two in the dozen years I've been here. I don't know--maybe I am walking right by them. I have seen numerous bobcats, coyotes, javelina, and even one cougar coming down Kitt Peak one Sunday morning. Very cool stuff!

Chubs, doesn't surprise me, it could be worse... that park could be full of Chunks.

When I am in Vegas, I usually camp a few days on Mt. Charleston. Usually there in the spring. When we go hiking that time of year, you hear a wave of rattle snakes as you walk along the paths. It keeps you on edge. Eyes peeled and a big walking stick. They are probably sunning themselves to warm up at that altitude. Any way you look at it, if you hear a rattle, look out!

Cool pics, great area.

I used to climb Mt Lemon regularly during the 13yrs I lived on the surface of the sun.
