First blade out of my new PROFORGE....

Well after forging a couple of blades out of my one brick two burner forge and several months of studying forges I took the plunge. I found that I lived only 45 miles from where one of the finest forges on the planet are made, Larkspur, CO.. I drove down and decided I had to have one. After a couple of weeks being sure, I went down on bought one on Friday.

Needless to say, this is quite a jump from a one brick forge. With the one brick I had to wait about 2 to 3 minutes for the little forge to heat the stock upto forging range. Now it takes about twenty seconds. What is really handy is being able to shut the forge down before you remove the stock so your not battling hot exhaust, do your forging, return it, hit the valve and your back in business.

Here is a picuture of my first blade after normalizing and anealing. Ready for heat treating.

Thanks for looking

Joe

Hey,

Man that is one nice looking forge!! And an equally nice looking blade too!! I did those one brick forges for a while and I heat treated with a small cutting torch for a while too. I got a NC Tool Knifemakers forge a while back(supporting the local economy as well) and the difference is amazing. A real forge helped me out soooo much I couldn't believe it. When I took it to the Trackrock hammer-in recently everyone seemed pretty impressed with its capabilities.

Well I certainly screwed that up! Sorry, I posted the forge info in a new thread titled "here is some info"...

I better stick to reading here on the forums instead of gabbin.

Sorry.

Good looking blade, that forge is awsome, puts my freon tank, hair dryer driven setup to shame!
