Hey! So I just got my first blade yesterday; an Emerson Kershaw CQC-6K. I like it a lot, but the blade is very much off center. Enough so that it scrapes against the inside of the frame when I open and close it if the pivot screw isn't tight enough. If I tighten it up it doesn't scrape, but it's still very much off center and of course it gets harder to open. I did a lot of inspection and tried a lot of re-centering techniques (most of which involved tightening and loosening certain screws and pushing on the blade, and all of which did not help in the slightest), and I've finally managed to determine the cause. The frame lock pushes pretty hard against the blade, hard enough in fact that it causes the blade to lean to one side. Out of the box the frame lock was actually so aggressive that it was very difficult to open and ended up leaving a deep scratch in the metal where the frame touches the blade. I bent some of the pressure out of it shortly after.
So what can I do about this? I've disassembled and analyzed the knife enough that I'm 100% sure this is the problem, but I don't want to bend any more pressure out of the lock or else it might not work at all. Is it possible that replacing the teflon washers with something harder, and perhaps with a larger outer radius, might help keep the blade straight despite the pressure? And what type of washer should I look for then, and where can I buy it? If that's not a viable solution, any other ideas? I don't recall this being an issue in any reviews I watched (in fact I believe the centering was a point of praise), so would it be a better idea just to claim warranty on it (something I'd rather avoid)?
Thanks in advance.
