This blade was chosen for two reasons - D2 won't have corrosion issues, and during the process a certain word starting with 'O' disappeared:cool:

Fairly time consuming, but satisfying, and I'm pleased with the outcome.
Next project will be my own micarta scales...

Thanks for the kind feedback. Method used was as follows:

Step 1 - Two applications of Septone spray on paint stripper (50% Methylene Chloride), and plenty of scraping. Tried not to breathe too many fumes...
Step 2 - 800, 1200, 2000 grit paper, with water, along the length of the blade gradually removing the remaining coating, and polishing the D2.
Step 3 - a little time on the buffer wheels
Step 4 - some Autosol metal polish.
Step 5 - resharpen and strop the knife

Total time? somewhere between 6 and 7 hours , not for the faint hearted...
Step 2 was the most time consuming...
