First blanks (KSO) ready for HT and first with Bubble jig

I have some 154 stainless blanks that are ready to go out for heat treat. They are the first ones I have done on a Craftsman 2x42. I did one with my new bubble jig and I have to say that it did make things easier on as far as confidence in angles. I might be missing a wedge between 5 and10 degrees but in any event I did keep the 10 degree on for too long so I'll have a bit more grinding than I might have after HT to square up the bevels. I had to take one side down on the bubble jigged one as I nicked the top of the grind line and had to flat grind the side of the blank down.

Any way, here are my first several blanks(one didn't make it as I totally hosed up the angles) ones. Next adventure is finishing :D

I don't think there's supposed to be a wedge between 5 and 10 degrees. You can use a combination of various wedges to get about any angle you need, though. Stack the 5 degree wedge with the 2.5 degree to get 7.5 degrees, for example.

Uh.... those aren't really quite ready for HT yet. The bevels should be sanded to at least 400 grit first. Your's look to be like 100 grit... or coarser.

Of course! I can't believe I didn't think of that.

Thanks for looking tryppyr. After I took the pic I took all of the parts to a Trizact belt A30 which supergrit says converts to a 500 grit. I just shot the pic after a 80 grit belt. Good eye though on the grit. I should have been clearer on my first post.
