Little hunt after work yesterday, took a red squirrel with the crosman. I put the little .177 pointed pellet straight through the neck, decent effective shot. Of course I was packing the hoodlum, so why not!

totally doable even though it's a 10 inch blade! I put the excellent tip to good use, and where the edge starts on the choil offers good possibilities when you immobilize the blade!

quite impressed, I just had to share

(sorry no pics, left the camera in the mountain biking bag)

I have been tasked by Woods Monkey to do a review on the Buck Hoodlum. I just got it last week. It seams pretty nice, not really my style but I will give her a good field testing and an honest review.

I am glad to hear that people are using it and using it well. I am sure Mr. Hood would be happy as well. Next time get some pics!

Will do! it's well not quite season yet (no season for red squirrels) but when regular squirrel season rolls around I will do so!

Hope to see the review, let me know if ya want to talk about the blade!

I have held one and I really like it, want one but for the price I can pick up a bunch of other knives that fit the need (I already have way too many in the 10 plus range).

cool man. I bought one out of respect for Ron. It does a lot of things right for me.

The Hoodlum is much lighter than other "big" knives. Very fast in the hand.

I think this design has nailed it. For crosscutting i use my saw, for food prep, delimbing, fuzz sticks and the odd bit of batoning, the hoodlum. I come to realise i probably don't need the capabilities of my NMFBM like i think i do. Seriously its a VERY intelligent design.....alright maybe not the notch.

The notch can serve as an attachment point for cordage for going forward with the knife gutting game. The knife is light, and balanced around the choil (another attachment point, wrap around fore arm). I've gutted dozens of small game animals with this knife. Is it replacing the mini knife skinners?? nope, but it's something I'd just thought I'd point out.
