First Blood Knives from FARID

From everything I've heard, Farid makes excellent knives.
I was interested in his standard line at one point.
For those that want a knife that looks like the original Lile, this is your chance.
Probably will not have a lot of collector value in the future but still a fine knife if all you want is "the look" !

Sag.

I do'nt care for his folders much, way too thick.More like a chisel to me than a knife for cutting. These do look a lot like the Lile hollow handles from the pictures.I admit the Rambo knives did a lot for knife collecting but I think the fad has pasted long ago.I do'nt know of a knowledgeable collector that thinks sawbacks on a blade has any use.

My friends at Lile knives are offering a re-issue of the first blood knife for pre-sale already. Stay tuned for a photo and more info at jimmylile.com. They have done a good job in collaborating with Vince Ford on some of their new stuff. Believe me, the "fad" has not passed. They get constant inquiries on the old and new Lile stuff daily, especially any and all that are Rambo related.

I have thought this over. I do like the knives and if the reasons for making them is genuine as I like to think they are I hope he does well. I see nothing wrong here. I have made Rambo style knives for customers upon request also Loveless style drop points. We tend to copy the styles of those who have impressed us in our up-comeing in this craft.
My bowies tend to lean towards the styles of Jerry Fisk, Greg Neely, and Shawn Ellis. is this wrong?

Strange way to "honor" a master bladesmith by making United Cutlery dupes.
Also the Rambo knife craze shall preveil, forever to evoke the hearts of Freemen and armchair adventurers.

Why the jerkoff smiley and the negative tone here?

I read the introduction and looked at the knives on the site and believed it to be very sincere. This guy put some heart into these knives, just like alot of guys who pay tribute to Scagel, Loveless, Moran, and other great makers. This man happens to love Jimmy Lile's work, and has done a hell of a fine job recreating it.

I don't see anyone jumping Michael Lovett's ass on here, or any maker doing a Loveless copy. Or anyone making a Scagel, or Moran reproduction.

I guess collectors and makers see things way differently when it comes to the world of knives.

Not at all strange. Immitation is the greatest form of flattery. I don't see these knives as united cutlery dups. This is one of mine inspired by the LILE first blood. I assure you this was not a dupe of any kind.

Looks like a deccent reproduction. However it seems from the photos to lack the double row of offset saw teeth. A critical feature of the Lile imo.

The double row of teeth are on the knives. You can see them in the pics, but it's kinda hard to.

I am a huge fan of the Lile First Blood knife and I'm excited that Farid has made one with excellent quality at an affordable price. The only other choice is UC or whoever is making the cheap knock-offs. Of course I think the gentlemen from Lile knives have put together an amazing reproduction but you'll have to pay.

I guess they are ok. I just really like knives i can use. I am not sold on large fixed blades being made out of 440C . And if they are a tribute they seem to be lacking something. Kind of pricey also for being what they are.

I don't question the quality, or the maker's credentials, but:

Extremely pricey for a knife that has no use whatsoever except to look "kewl" in a movie. :(

Seriously, what could they possibly be used for expept to display in a collector's case? :jerkit::jerkit:

OTOH, if you prefer "cool" to practical, then more power to ya, I guess. :p

he needs to resize his pictures in a real program instead of mspaint.

other than that I see nothing here to warrant a jerkit smiley.

I noticed that Farid states his butt caps are stainless steel and contain a compass. The Lile knives had aluminum butt caps, I believe, because housing a compass in steel would tend to throw the compass off. They also look a little curious where the blade meets the guard.
